1899 $10 Gold Liberty Head Eagle PCGS MS63 Blue. 900 fine gold
The obverse features a neoclassic head of Liberty adorned with a coronet inscribed LIBERTY, 13 stars surround the bust, with the date below. The reverse features an eagle holding arrows and an olive branch, encircled by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and TEN D. This gold piece was designed by Christian Gobrecht, who also served as 3rd Chief Engraver of the U.
In 1795, the first official United States gold coins were released. In 1838 a new design, the Coronet or Liberty Head style, was created. This style was issued through 1907, with a slight change in the portrait in 1839, and with the addition of the motto IN GOD WE TRUST in 1866. Boxes or APO/FPO at this time.
