Antique Chinese Export 20K Gold and Jadeite Jade Coin Bracelet, Wang Hing
A rare 20K to 22K Gold Jade bracelet from the Chinese Export period, circa 1920s. Its rarity is attributable to both the maker, Wang Hing, and the use of very fine quality antique Qing dynasty natural Jadeite Jade carved coins.
Composed of nine circular panels, alternating a gold medallion cast with a Chinese character and a panel mounted with a circular translucent rich green Jadeite Jade hand-carved as a coin with Chinese character for double happiness. The clasp is hallmarked 20 for Chinese Export Gold of 20K (acid testing up to 22K) and letters WH for Wang Hing, a renowned luxury retailer of fine silverware and gold jewelry towards the end of the 19th century.Wang Hing originated as a jade dealer in Canton and evolved to become the best-known maker of export silver during the late China Trade period. The company expanded to Shanghai and opened a flagship store in Hong Kong in 1920. The bracelet is in overall very good condition consistent with age. Two of the jade stones have fissures but intact (see last two photos). Measures 6-3/4 long by ½ wide.
The length measurement does not include the tongue of the clasp. Bracelet closes with a hidden tab insert with push button release. Please examine the photos closely and enlarge them for details. All photos were taken under natural daylight condition.
